While there are many parts that make up an EverQuest Legends player character that come from the original EverQuest, or one of the many fan-run emulated servers, the EQL character system is unique. Many facets interact to make characters that are truly more than the sum of their parts.

For instance, while players can only create a single character, every character over level 10 has three character classes- The first, primary class is more complicated to change, but the secondary and tertiary classes can be changed with every "loadout" (up to 16 separate loudouts). Melee classes synergize with pure caster and priest classes, to take a single, powerful build through the world. Several aspects come together to make a character:

  • Character Classes- 16 classes each bring something unique to the table
  • Build Guides- The three chosen classes greatly impact how a character functions
  • Alternate Advancement- Each class has access to a different batch of AA abilities
  • Character Races- Character race affects starting stats, vision, size, how different NPCs react, and some have specialized perks
  • Deities- A character's diety affect spell availability, some gear, and can also affect NPC attitude quite a lot
  • Skills- Character skills affect how well they can interact with the world
  • Stances, Invocations, and Disciplines- Characters can focus in different ways to gain various bonuses
  • Statistics- A character's attributes also affect aspects like combat, skill gains, and commerce
