Alternate Advancement
About Alternate Advancement
The Alternate Advancement system (AA for short) was introduced to EverQuest in the Shadows of Luclin expansion in 2001. This feature was originally available to players who were level 51 and above, providing an additional way to grow in power beyond the level cap by engaging in any activity that provides experience. On live servers, there is an AA slider, that allows you to choose how much of your leveling experience goes towards getting an AA point, and how much goes towards gaining a new level. There is no AA slider in EverQuest Legends, so there is no way to change the rates at which you gain AA points.
EverQuest Legends provides this feature right from the start at level 1, and provides a completely overhauled list of available AAs for all classes. These are divided up into 4 categories - General, Archetype, Class, and Special. The AAs that are available to your character depend on your class choices. The General AAs are available to all classes, while Archetype and Class AAs are made available depending on which classes you take. More detail is provided for each of these below.
UI
AAs are available through the AA window, which you can open in-game by pressing V (the default hotkey).
General AAs
General AAs are available to all classes, regardless of level or selection. These offer passive bonuses to stats, resistances, crafting skills, and a few automatically granted abilities such as Origin and Gather Party. Some of these are brand new to EverQuest Legends, such as Quick Buff which applies all your beneficial spells to all party/raid members at once.
