Description

Shadow Knights are unholy warriors that use fear, pain and disease to attack all that is good in the world. Shadow Knights are a plate-wearing melee class able to wield many kinds of weapons and dark spells.

The Shadow Knight is considered by many as the opposite to a Paladin, while in some ways this is true, on Norrath they aren't the traditional evil Black Knight to the Good White Knight. The races that are capable of producing Shadow Knights are not all innately evil, even Humans are known to become them. In a similar fashion to a Paladin, Shadow Knights have to be dedicated to their deity, whether this dedication is because of a desire to serve or to gain in power and wealth is debatable. What is true for certain is none of the deities Shadow Knights follow could be thought of as good and will usually be classed as evil.

Shadow Knights have many of the skills and undertake similar training to that of a Warrior, complemented with an impressive spell casting ability in Necromantic magic. They are one of the most respected and feared professions and as individuals are formidable opponents, even inexperienced Shadow Knights have completed tough and painful tasks, proving their worth enough to be trained. The Iksar especially give difficult tasks to their young apprentices, many of whom will never make it beyond their apprentice status. They are taught to fight without fear or mercy and not to question their masters, at least not until they can defeat them and give commands of their own.

Shadow Knights have no qualms about their method of defeating an opponent, including leaching their health and strength to enhance their own. Among the dark spells available to them, Shadow Knights can cause an enemy to run in fear and then slow their movement, catching up and striking them repeatedly where their armor is most vulnerable. This isn't to say Shadow Knights avoid direct combat as they are powerful duelists, often using weapons imbued with cruelty. They are among the most dangerous enemies that an adventurer could encounter and as an ally need to be respected and dealt with carefully, Shadow Knights have a reputation for being quick to anger and easy to annoy and not always making their distaste known until it maybe fatal for the party responsible.

Class Titles

In the original Kunark expansion, classes would gain new titles at levels over 50. In EverQuest Legends, these titles are not available, and it is unknown how they will be presented. While they may be available with future level cap increases, they are included here only for posterity:

Picking the Right Race

When creating a character you must first select your primary race. This race will be locked in at level 11, and can't be changed until you unlock other races. Below are the race options for this class, as well as their stat line.

When selecting a race, a big consideration is the factions it is associate with and opposed to. There may also be some racial benefits or penalties to consider as well. Clicking on the name of the race will take you to the detailed race pages where these are defined in detail.

Shadow Knights need to balance the difficulty of good melee ability with a reasonable mana pool.

Religion

Religion is not of a huge concern to Shadow Knights as they are already hated. Most choose to worship Innoruuk the Prince of Hate, as it ties in well their role. The other choices are Cazic-Thule, or rarely Bertoxxulous or Rallos Zek. Shadow Knights cannot be agnostic, as their dark powers are directly linked to their study or worship of their deity and the dead.

Stances & Invocations

Name	Description
Balanced Stance	All incoming damage is reduced by 10% and your chance to hit is increased by 10%. Endurance regen excluding out of combat bonus regen is doubled. There is no endurance cost to upkeep this stance.
Defensive Stance	All incoming melee damage is reduced by 50% and incoming magical damage is reduced by 20%. Every point of damage reduced consumes an equal amount of endurance, with a reduction based on your Strategy skill.
Mage Hunter Stance	All incoming spell damage is reduced by 50% and incoming physical damage is reduced by 20%. Every point of damage reduced consumes an equal amount of endurance, with a reduction based on your Strategy skill.
Offensive Stance	Outgoing melee damage is increased by 100% and your chance to hit is increased by 25%. Every point of bonus damage dealt consumes an equal amount of endurance, with a reduction based on your Strategy skill. When below 25% endurance, the chance to hit bonus is reduced based on the remaining percent of endurance. Bonus damage from critical hits and similar effects do not cost endurance.
Arcane Mastery Invocation	Spell cast and recovery times are reduced by 20% plus 10% per additional intelligence class. The mana cost of detrimental spells is reduced by 10% plus 5% per additional intelligence class.
Inversion Invocation	Shifts two-thirds of spell cast time into the global recovery time and 20% of the mana cost into half as much in endurance cost.
Over Channel Invocation	Cast spells have a -150 resist adjust plus another -15 for every non-hybrid caster class at a cost of 10% of the mana cost in endurance.
Recovery Invocation	You regenerate mana twice as fast and spells have a 5% reduced mana cost. Out of combat regen bonus is not affected. While out of combat, the regeneration modifier of this invocation is active even if this invocation is not.
Spellblade Invocation	Treats the first spell-gem slot as a proc that consumes both mana and endurance on activation. 40% of the spell's mana cost is paid as mana and 20% as endurance. The spell must have a reuse time less than or equal to its cast time.
