Description
The God of Fear, Cazic Thule, wanders the northeastern area of the Plane of Fear around the ring of fire. He (unlike his denizens) regards Iksars as his allies.
With the Velious era revamp of Plane of Fear, much of CT's former loot was moved to his golems: Dread, Terror and Fright. His new loot table rivals the value of the lords and ladies of Temple of Veeshan.
Strategy
This is a very technical encounter. It's recommended to have several dozen melee and a dozen+ healers. You'll want to have several charmed pets for extra dps, especially Irak Altil, A fetid fiends, and A Shiverbacks. You'll want to pull him to a location with lots of room and few hills, trees or other obstructions. The northwest corner is ideal. You must clear or kite the entire zone of NPCs, or they will assist aggro CT when he is engaged.
CT will proc a single target fear which lasts a few ticks on his melee target. When that target runs or walks out of melee range, CT will often switch targets to the next highest in melee range. He has a very high proc rate, often proccing on the first hit. The fear is not unresistable, but with the high proc rate everyone gets feared quickly anyway. Expect at least a dozen melee to be feared at a time. CT will also snare most melee with an AOE snare, which actually helps to mitigate this somewhat. Healers should assist CT and cast fast heals such as Remedy and Chloroblast, chain CH is ineffective given how often CT switches targets.
CT also casts a knockback with a small DD. If this pushes your character into low hp, you'll get top aggro on CT, causing him to chase after you, leaving the bulk of the raid behind. Avoid this by always having a form a levitate on all members. The knockback also dispels the top slot buff or debuff, so bury your levitate behind junk buffs.
Be very careful with Enrage. CT is likely to flip often as he fears his targets.
Wizards: Solist and Sunstrike are unreliable (Solist is slightly better); use Lure of Ice.
P99 SPECIFIC - due to the custom/bugged nature of archery on p99 the optimal strategy is to have all melee and caster dps log off their regular characters and instead play an ogre warrior equipped with a weighted axe and any bow. because archery damage is calculated primarily on main hand weapon delay, each arrow will hit for roughly 110-130 damage while avoiding all of the mechanics of the fight including aoe fear, snare, damage, knock back, rampage, enrage. because this strategy entirely circumvents all of the fight mechanics the raid will only need to heal the main tank and thus can get by with far less healing, allowing some of the raids healers to also log on ogre warriors. you will want to bring about 25 players to ensure an easy victory.
