Scope

Using EQ Traders as the only reliable source of EQ vendor pricing, we can assume the following:

  • Charisma has meaningful breakpoints, especially between ~61–76 and ~100+, after which additional CHA has diminishing or no effect.
  • Faction breaks into three functional tiers for pricing:
  1. Apprehensive, Indifferent or better, and Dubious or worse. (Indifferent-or-better vendors give identical prices for the same charisma—Ally does not improve prices beyond Indifferent.)
  2. Dubious-or-worse vendors won’t sell to you at all.
  3. Apprehensive vendors will sell, but prices are significantly worse unless charisma is very high.

These two facts define the scope of our current testing: you only need to test Apprehensive and Indifferent factions across a range of charisma values.

Control Variables

Vendor: Use one vendor for the entire test.

Item: Use one item with a stable base price (e.g., Water Flask, Bandage, Torch).

Faction level: You must be able to reliably set your faction to:

  • Apprehensive
  • Indifferent
  • (Optional) Amiable / Kindly / Warmly / Ally — but these will all give identical prices.

Charisma value: You need a reproducible way to set CHA to specific values (e.g., 50, 75, 85, 100, 120, 125, 150, 175, 200).
