Checklist
- With room for an container in your inventory bring Vin Moltor a Rat Ear Pie to get, or kill him until he drops, a Severed Paw
- Camp Befallen for Gynok Moltor and kill him until he drops the Platinum Ring Gold Ring and Copper Ring
- Swim to the bottom of the pond in Runnyeye for the Silver Ring. It looks like a bag.
- Combine the rings together in the Severed Paw
Walkthrough
This quest has been revamped many times from the original vanilla quest, which I did (No Kerran City at the time) to a few more changes throughout the expansions on Live and now a different version on EQL.
Step 1: The Severed Paw (Qeynos Catacombs)
The Severed Paw comes from Vin Moltor in Qeynos Catacombs. There are two ways to acquire it:
- Killing him (25% drop rate), typically an hour or so camp before you get the paw. Killing him results in hits to the following factions: Antonius Bayle, Coalition of Tradefolk, Guards of Qeynos, Merchants of Qeynos. So if you have to kill him 4 times to get the Paw it may be too much of a faction hit for you.
- Alternatively you can use Skill Baking (or hire a baker) to produce a Rat Ear Pie (Trivial 142 Baking, but is so easy/cheap to make you should have no problems creating it at 135 baking). See the Baking Quick Leveling Guide if you would like to level your baking. 1-135 will take about an hour.
Both strategies take about the same amount of time. The latter is recommended because you get to keep leveled baking. (You will need it one day for the amazing Shawl quest in Thurgadin).
Step 2: The Rings (Befallen)
I camped the Mutant Fungus in Guk for around 8 hours, got the 2 fungus's to drop, but no Faerix Spores. Thought the quest was incomplete at this time.
Then, while doing Befallen with some friends, killed Moltor a few times and noticed he dropped a Copper Ring instead of his usual Platinum Ring
Came back the next day, camped him myself and after 3 spawns I had gotten the Platinum, Copper and Gold rings. Possible he COULD drop the silver, but I haven't seen it.
Ran to Runnyeye, swam to the bottom of the pond and grabbed the Silver Ring.
Combined the 4 into the Severed Paw and VOILA! Paw of Opolla
