About EverQuest Legends Wiki
EverQuest Legends Wiki is a community‑driven knowledge base dedicated to documenting the world, systems, mechanics, and evolving content of EverQuest Legends™ (EQL), an EverQuest experience developed Daybreak Game Company in collaboration with independent studio Game Jawn. Our purpose is to provide players with an accurate, organized, and continually updated reference for everything found in the EverQuest Legends game.
The EQL Wiki is a collaborative effort. Anyone is welcome to contribute. If you see something that is inaccurate or can be improved, don't ask that it be fixed — just improve it.
Our Origins
The EQL Wiki project began on March 26, 2026, when three community members — Caliente, Eain, and Maergoth — formed the initial admin team. From the beginning, our goal was to build a high‑quality, reliable wiki that would be ready for players at launch, without requiring years of groundwork before it became useful.
EQL is a newly reimagined version of classic EverQuest from its original release in 1999. Featuring all the fun magic and nostalgia of the original game, EQL is also packed with tons of new features and quality of life enhancements. Because of this shared foundation, our wiki team explored ways to accelerate the creation of a comprehensive wiki without reinventing the wheel.
This led us to the Project 1999 (P99) Wiki, a community‑maintained resource that has documented classic EverQuest since 2009.
Forking the P99 Wiki
The P99 Wiki contains an enormous amount of classic EverQuest information. And we knew that starting a similar wiki from scratch would have required thousands of hours of work before it would become a valuable community resource.
To avoid this, we sought clarity and community approval from the P99 wiki maintainers and contributors. They confirmed that:
- The P99 Wiki has no formal owner and is maintained by the community
- P99 staff do not claim ownership of the wiki; they simply host it
- A public endorsement from contributors was appropriate and welcomed
We posted on the P99 forums on March 30, 2026, inviting feedback from contributors. The responses were overwhelmingly supportive, with contributors encouraging the fork as long as:
- The process was considerate (e.g., throttled scraping, DB export)
- Proper credit was given and the P99 community’s work was acknowledged
This community‑level approval, combined with direct confirmation from an active maintainer, established that we were in the clear to proceed.
Our Commitment to Credit and Transparency
We owe a massive thank‑you to the Project 1999 Wiki community. Their work documenting classic EverQuest provided the foundation that made this project possible.
We acknowledge:
- P99 contributors for their years of effort
- The P99 Wiki for serving as the structural and informational springboard for our initial content
- The P99 community for publicly supporting this "fork" and encouraging its use
This wiki would not exist in its current form without their contributions.
The Fork Process
Our initial import includes classic EverQuest content from the P99 Wiki, but EverQuest Legends is not Project 1999, and the two projects will diverge significantly over time. The EQL Wiki must evolve along with the game's evolution.
To ensure accuracy and clarity:
1. Verified EQL Content
We will review every page to confirm whether the information matches EverQuest Legends. Verified pages will be updated to reflect EQL’s mechanics, itemization, NPC's, and zone design.
2. Content Requiring Adjustments
Guides, mechanics explanations, and other interpretive content will be updated or rewritten to reflect EQL’s systems when appropriate.
3. P99‑Specific Content
Anything that applies only to Project 1999 — P99‑specific instructions, P99‑exclusive mechanics, P99-exclusive items and item variants, etc. — will be removed.
4. Edit History Preservation
Where possible, we retain edit histories, to preserve contributor credit and transparency.
