Description

These can spawn in the area between the Troll Shrine (point 10) and Lizard Man camp (point 9) on the Rathe Mountains map. Just keep clear of the troll guards while you hunt.

The basalt drakes have multiple spawns, as I was able to have at least two roaming at once. Your best bet to get them to spawn is to kill all roaming mobs in the area - drakes, basilisks, and lizardmen. When I killed only drakes, soon drakes stopped spawning, and when I started killing basilisks soon the area was nothing but lizardmen. But when I just kill all roamers, drakes spawn frequently and I was able to clear several basalt drakes in a single day-night cycle.

If you hunt these in your mid-late teens you can probably get decent experience while you do it. Just keep in mind that the higher level drakes will assist one another - though its usually easy to fight them solo and even if you end up with two it probably won't be much of a challenge.

(Epic quest information - not relevant to current Everquest Legends) Rharzar's PH is "a drake", if "a drake" is up, you may want to avoid killing it to avoid spawning Rharzar.

Everquest Legends Note: In older versions of Everquest, there were spawns around (-1687, 5) and (-1280,740). However, these spawn points are now part of the Froglok starting area.
